Looking for a dating prospect is what probably led you to subscribe in an online dating website.  But it seems you have been logged on for hours now and yet you still haven’t found one profile to respond to.  The question is how would you want to respond to profiles?  Do you plan to just set your eyes on one or two profiles only, or do you want to respond to more profiles as you can?

Before you begin your search for a dating prospect, assess yourself first if you can handle responding to more profiles or single out just a few of them.

Beginners usually prefer one or two profiles to respond to at first, because they are still in the process of trying the site or the whole online dating practice.  Since they are new to this kind of conversing with and meeting other people, beginners still have the feeling of a little hesitation, especially when it comes to responding to profiles.

However, some subscribers, who are already used to the practice of online dating, still prefer responding to only one or two profiles.  Perhaps because they are naturally picky or they do not have much time to respond to more profiles.

Targeting or setting an eye on few profiles sounds very practical for other online daters because they think that it will lessen the chance for mistakes and risks linked to online dating, particularly internet predators.

Limiting yourself to one or two persons to respond to will also prevent you from being confused, especially with their identity.  At least, with just few profiles on hand, you don’t have to make a long list of information about the persons you are chatting with regularly.

There are also some disadvantages with having few profiles to respond to.  With only one or two profiles responding to regularly, there will come a time that you will be greeted with dead air.  Responding to only one or two profiles would mean only one or two responses as well, or unfortunately, none at all.  If you think responding to few profiles means giving all your expectations to one or two singled-out persons, then you are bound to face failures.  In case that one or two persons did not respond to your messages, you will have the tendency to feel down or disappointed.

If that one or two persons favorably replied to your messages, you still cannot assume that he or she is the right person for you.  The best thing that you can do as of the moment is to get to know each other better and just cross the bridge when you get there. 

Whether you prefer responding to one or two profiles or get a long list of profiles to respond to, it is still you who have the final say.  Just stay on the safe side and enjoy your chosen online dating activities.
